Aggro indicator: first threat target sometimes delayed on combat start in group/raid (solo works fine)
I wanted to share an observation regarding the aggro indicator in VuhDo for WoW Classic/Vanilla. This is something I've been noticing on my end over the past several updates, and I'm not sure if it's a widespread issue.
The behavior I'm seeing is specifically tied to group/raid combat: when I am in a party or raid group (e.g., inside a dungeon or raid) and combat starts, the aggro indicator does not immediately show the very first target that gains threat. There seems to be a brief delay or the highlight is missing momentarily at the very beginning of the fight. Once threat updates again or swaps to another target, the indicator begins working instantly and correctly for all subsequent events.
Interestingly, when I am alone and pull an enemy solo, the aggro indicator works perfectly — it highlights the very first threat target right away with no delay at all.
What I observed on my machine:
- Join a party or raid group and enter combat (ideally inside a dungeon or raid instance).
- Observe the VuhDo aggro indicator at the exact moment combat begins.
- On my client, the very first enemy threat target is not displayed immediately — there is a noticeable delay or the highlight is missing entirely.
- After this initial hiccup, any further threat changes or additional threat targets are shown instantly as expected.
- For comparison, when I test solo and pull any enemy alone, the aggro indicator shows the first threat target immediately without any issue.
Additional info:
- I first started noticing this a few versions ago, and it still occurs on the current version I'm using. I haven't been able to test with a clean fresh install yet to see if that makes any difference.
- I did not test with all other addons disabled.
- No Lua errors are thrown when the highlight fails to appear.
- This is just my personal experience — I haven't confirmed if other players are encountering the same thing.
Additionally, I'd like to ask about another PvP-related aggro feature that I remember from a very long time ago. I recall that VuhDo used to be able to show some form of threat indicator in PvP situations — essentially indicating which enemy player currently had you targeted, which served as a threat indicator in PvP. However, I've noticed that this no longer seems to work. I'm not sure if this is due to game/API changes over time (maybe Blizzard removed access to that kind of threat information in PvP), whether it was something removed intentionally in a VuhDo update, or if it's simply a settings issue on my end. I would really appreciate any insight you could provide on this.
I'm not certain if either of these is something on my side or something that could be looked into, but I figured they were worth mentioning.
